Solid Waste

We are still finding a significant amount of household waste in our recyclable containers. The Village will soon begin to fine violators. The fine schedule approved by Council includes a $50 fine for failing to secure trash in open top containers; a $350 fine for contaminating the recycling compactors or containers with household trash; and a $1,000 fine for illegally dumping trash within the Village limits.

All construction waste must be disposed of in the appropriate open top dumpster in the yard and each load will be charged the current rate of $60.00 per pickup load. Please contact the Public Works Department at (575) 512-6510 when you have construction waste to unload. For definition purposes, anything that has been through a manufacturing process, ie. construction lumber, railroad ties, etc. is construction waste and must be disposed of in the open top container in the Public Works yard.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR WATER SYSTEM

Corona Water System Failed to Correct Significant Deficiencies Within Required Time Frame

Este informe contiene información importante acerca de su agua sistema. Haga que alguien lo traduzca para usted, o habla con alguien que lo entienda.

Our water system recently violated a drinking water requirement. Although this incident was not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we are doing to correct this situation.

A routine sanitary survey conducted on July 12, 2021 by the New Mexico Environmental Department – Drinking Water Bureau (NMED DWB) found that the water system did not produce storage tank inspection documentation for the Red Cloud Storage Tanks #3 & #4.

As required by the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Ground Water Rule, we were required to take action to correct these deficiencies. However, we failed to take this action by the deadline established by the New Mexico Environmental Department's Drinking Water Bureau.

What is being done to correct the problem?

We are working to complete inspections on our storage tanks. We anticipate resolving the problem within 120 days.
